Abstract

In the past, a number of one-dimensional modeling work have been made to predict the local gasification behavior of pulverized coals entrained at the normal operating conditions of tubular gasifier. In this work, three different modeling methods to compute the coal gasification at the gasifier exit in simpler manner are developed and compared. These include thermodynamic method, reaction kinetics method and well stirred reactor (WSR) method. With these models, important variables such as effect of oxygen addition and coal type on the gasification are evaluated in terms of coal conversion, the compositions and temperature of synthesis gas products at the exit.
