Forty-six years of mixing research applied to practical application will be summarized. The research and applications include: Gas dispersion from vessel headspace; competitive fast reactions in agitated reactors, pump-around loops and pipeline mixers; backmixing in agitated compartmented columns, solids suspension at high solids loadings; vortex depth in partially-baffled vessels; just suspended speeds for liquid/liquid dispersions and mixing in high viscosity Vickers-Zimmer style polymerization reactors.
