This work reports applications of process analytical technology (PAT) to flow chemistry development and manufacturing. Case studies demonstrate that the PAT tools provide insight into chemical mechanisms and generate kinetic data to facilitate flow process scale-up. The case studies also present the utility of the PAT tools for on-line monitoring flow production process as it provides real-time data on flow stream dispersion, impurity profile, reaction progress and flow system cleaning verification, proving that PAT are convenient and versatile tools for rapid optimization and synchronized control of continuous flow chemistry processing.
