Guidelines for Submitting a Paper for Inclusion in the 2010 Annual Meeting Proceedings
PAPER UPLOAD CLOSEDThe deadline to Upload Papers has been reached:Monday, September 27, 2010 at 11:59pm (EST) |
Note To Session Chairs: You can view which authors in your session have uploaded papers and which haven't within the Technical Program. Simply browse to your session in the Program and by clicking on the title of each paper, you will notice it says "Extended Abstract Status:" and will be followed by "File Uploaded" or "File Not Uploaded".
Please Note: The Technical Program only updates once every day, thus if a paper has been uploaded, it will not reflect on the Program until the following day. |
Below is what authors need to know in order to submit a presentation record/paper for inclusion in the 2010 Annual Meeting CD-ROM proceedings. Papers and/or abstracts from all the topical conferences plus non-topical programming will be included on this CD-ROM.
Preferred Formatting Guidelines:
- Use 12 pt. Optima, if possible. If Optima is not available, you may use a similar font, such as Arial or Helvetica.
- Single-space your document, with double-spacing between paragraphs.
- Use .75" top, left, and right margins, and 1" bottom margins.
- Set your title flush left across the top of first page in 12 pt. bold.
- Set authors and affiliations flush left, below your title, in 12 pt. italic.
- Indent each new paragraph by .6" in by using a tab. Please do not use spaces or hanging indents to indent paragraphs.
- Embed and position tables within your text, and place captions above table. Identify each table with a bold numeric reference. (e.g. Table 1.)
- Embed and position figures within your text, and place a caption below each figure.
- Do not add page numbers, headers or footers. Note: If you have difficulty meeting these guidelines, please submit the paper as you have it. It is important to us to have your paper represented.
- Although there is no set format required for uploaded papers, you may use the following as a very basic guide if you wish to do so: Sample Format
Authors:
Unless you have been instructed otherwise by a topical conference chair, please upload your paper (approx. 7-8 pages) via the paper upload system. If you wish you may follow the preferred format guidelines otherwise we will accept any format you wish to use as long as the file is a Word, PDF or PowerPoint file; we only ask that you not include a title page but simply put your title, paper number and authors at the top of your first page with your text immediately following.Important Notes on On-Line Submittal:
- Authors may upload a Word, PDF or PowerPoint file.
- Authors will not have the opportunity to review the PDF file that OmniPress will create from their Word or PowerPoint file.
- However, authors may re-upload a file if they have made an error in their paper and wish to send an edited one up to Monday, September 27, 2010. (Simply "replace" the previously uploaded file on the upload page.)
- If there are obvious problems with the PDF, OmniPress will contact the author.
- Presenter e-mails will be included on the CD-ROM proceedings.
In lieu of a signed hard copy permission to reproduce presentation record form, it should be understood that by uploading a paper, the author, as the copyright owner, gives AIChE permission to include the paper on the meeting conference proceedings CD-ROM and gives AIChE and its agents permission to reproduce this presentation record for sale or distribution anywhere in any media including sending the CD to the Linda Hall Library and Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS). The author retains all rights, including copyright, while warranting that the presentation is the author's original work, contains no libelous or unlawful statements, and does not infringe upon the rights of others. (If the presentation was prepared jointly, the author agrees to advise co-authors of the terms of this permission.) Where no presentation record is uploaded, the abstract submitted during the Proposal To Present Process (PTP) will be used instead and the same understanding and permission agreement set forth above will apply.
If You Do Not Submit an Extended Abstract
We will include abstracts for authors who do not submit anything else. We plan to use the abstracts that were sent during the PTP process. On the CD, topicals will be individually listed and papers will be searchable by topical, author, key words and phrases. Non-topical papers will be listed under a Non-topical heading that will also appear on the main menu of the CD-ROM.
How To Reference a Paper that is Included on a CD
It is important to note that papers on a CD may indeed be cited. Since one cannot reference a page number because there is no page numbering, there is an MLA (Modern Language Association) formula. According to the MLA, the work should be cited as such: Author Last Name, First Initial. "Name of your paper." CD Title (this is underlined). New York, NY (place of publication): AIChE (the publisher). 2007 (year it was produced).
