Opportunities for Chemical Engineering in Petascale Computing [Invited Talks Only]

Monday, November 9, 2009: 8:30 AM
Tennessee C (Gaylord Opryland Hotel)

Description:
With several petaflop-capable computing platforms now, or soon to be, available in the U.S., Europe and Asia, we have now entered the era of petascale computing. Petascale platforms open up new opportunities for discovery, fundamental understanding, and predictive modeling in a broad range of outstanding problems in science and engineering. In this session, invited speakers will discuss the opportunities created by petascale computing, as well as the challenges involved in using petascale platforms efficiently. Successful applications of petascale computing in chemical engineering and beyond will be described.
