Description:
Papers being sought describe the photobiological production of biofuels by microalgae and cyanobacteria through theoretical, experimental and computational modeling approaches. This includes the production of triacylglycerides, hydrocarbons, carbohydrates, ethanol and biohydrogen through direct or indirect (anaerobic fermentative) biophotolysis. This also includes using biomass to co-produce hydrogen or methane via anaerobic fermentation. Specific topics include: bioprospecting, genomics, growth, physiology and biochemistry, photosynthesis, general metabolism, genetic tool development, systems biology, and metabolic engineering approaches for strain improvement in addition to cultivation in open and closed photobioreactors, algal harvesting/extraction, development of new process designs, and downstream algal product separation and conversion to biofuels.
