Delta Ballroom A (Gaylord Opryland Hotel)
The world in the 21th century is facing two most serious problems, the shortage of clean water and global warming. It is critically important that Separation Science and Technology meet the challenges of overcoming these problems, i.e., to treat waste water for reuse, to desalinate seawater to produce potable water, and to capture CO2.
Dr. Li will review the key separation technologies, examine and compare their energy consumption and recent advances on energy saving aspects. He will also discuss the sustainability of water reuse and CO2 capture, sequestration and utilization methods. Finally, he will discuss, from an industrial perspective, the future directions of the development of separation science and technology in the 21st century.
