The U.S. nuclear industry is ramping up to be a significant contributor for meeting the increased electricity needs and helping achieve energy security and climate change goals. This paper will describe new advanced fuel cycle initiatives being undertaken/proposed by the U.S. Department of Energy and the new opportunities they offer for chemical engineers to play in the nuclear industry.
