While first reported use of modified twin screw extruders (TSE) dates back to late 70's, there have been few publications since then reporting systematic study of continuous granulation. In this paper, we will discuss use of a modified TSE for continuous wet granulation. Starting with a screening study involving several screw designs, we evaluated key variables like screw designs, water level, screw speed etc. The presentation will cover details of a DoE study and also include scale-up experiments.
