Wendelin J. Stark, Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences, ETH Zurich, 8093 Zurich, Switzerland

Making chemistry magnetic is the core vision of TurboBeads Llc. which is based on metal nanomagnets developed by ETH Zurich, Switzerland. We drive the commercialization of specific magnetic nanoparticles for chemical separation applications. This talk will give a brief overview of TurboBeads' technology and nanoparticle synthesis strategies. There will be a strong focus on the application driven introduction of magnetic particles to the markets of biochemistry, metal refining, magnetic catalysis and magnetic polymers, giving specific application examples and discussing pricing and production volumes.

TurboBeads Llc. was founded in 2007 and is privately owned and financed. The company has development contracts with two Global Fortune 500 companies as well as several ongoing smaller projects. The presenter is founder and CEO of the company and has been involved in the AIChE annual conference throughout his career.
