Investigating The Phase Behavior Of Fluids In The Vicinity Of A Surface

Jeffrey R. Errington, Chemical and Biological Engineering, University at Buffalo, 509 Furnas Hall, Buffalo, NY 14260

The development of the Gibbs ensemble greatly facilitated the investigation of fluid phase transitions using molecular simulation, and, in turn, spurred the training of many chemical engineers in the use of computational means to study phase equilibrium.

In this presentation, I focus on the use of grand canonical transition matrix Monte Carlo simulation to develop a better understanding of the behavior fluids exhibit when in the vicinity of a surface.
