A one-dimensional, time dependent electrokinetic model has been developed to simulate the transport and sorption of cesium and strontium ions through a concrete disk The sensitivity of the ion concentration in the anolyte and catholyte to the overall mass transfer coefficient and ion diffusion coefficient is investigated. The model predicts the variation in the voltage drop across the disk and the concentrations of all involved species throughout the disk and in the anolyte and catholyte. The equations are solved by using the Galerkin/Finite element method.
