At the request of to apply a treatment specifically designed for inhibit the incrustation of silica compounds that allow to arise a economic and technical treatment in the cooling tower CT36A01 of Independence Petrochemical Complex from San Martin Texmelúcan Puebla, Mex., previously was realized the selection of actives, D&R studies, laboratory and pilot plant test.
In january 2006 was started the industrial application of chemical products selected to reach 4.5 cycles of concentration silica base maintaining between 3.5 and 4.0 same base actually in the colling tower. This system supply water to two turbogenerators of 30 megawatts each one.
In the present work show us the results in corrosion coupons installed in cooling tower as such as admiralty and stainless steel, chemical and bacteriological control of fresh water make up supplier and return, incrustation and fouling inhibition of the tower, as well saving of the water consumption and chemical products, finally economics and operationals benefits.
The results obtained in this paper show the importance of a good control chemical system to a bigger saving water consumption in accord of concentration and dosage of products by day, salts concentration, operational conditions, chemical and physical laboratory test in addition to a complete technical assistance service.
