Comparison Of Two Adsorbents For The Separation Of A Sugar Mixture Based On Smb Process

Se-Hee Jo and Sungyong Mun. Chemical Engineering, Hanyang University, Seoul, 133-791, South Korea

In this study, Dowex and MFG resins are used to separate a sugar mixture using SMB process and the results are compared with each other. The intrinsic parameters in each system with a different resin are obtained by a series of single column experiments. Based on the resultant intrinsic parameters, the numerical simulations are conducted for the four-zone SMB processes based on the two resins. The separation performances of the SMB process with the two resins are then compared in terms of productivity, purity, and recovery.
