#12 - Advances in Optimization I (10C02)
Optimization (local and global) has been the focus of numerous publications in the last few decades. A lot of advantages have thus been reported in terms of algorithmic developments to address issues of global optimality for cases of realistic complex models involving discrete decisions and complicated nonconvex formulations. However, a number of issues are still unresolved and require the attention of additional work in this area. Among them are questions regarding the efficient solution of large-scale problems and the applicability of the proposed methodologies in realistic case studies. Papers are sought that describe modeling of complex optimization problems, algorithmic development and efficient solution procedures to address the dimensionality of real case studies, and novel ideas in terms of problem representation to reduce the computational complexity of the resulted optimization formulations.
