#3 - Sunday Workshop: Better Teaching in Less Time: A Workshop for Researchers (04008)
No one wants to do a bad job at teaching, but many professors do not improve their teaching because they believe it will require too much time. Efficiently done, good teaching can be done in the same or less time as poor teaching. Effective, efficient methods for lecture-style courses will be considered in the first part of the workshop. The second part of the workshop will consider approaches to tap into the vast untapped reservoir of student involvement. An effective teaching method that turns over much of the preparation work to students will be explored.
