Investigation of Convective Flow Pcr

Kristen S. Gantt and Victor M. Ugaz. Department of Chemical Engineering, Texas A&M University, 3122 TAMU, College Station, TX 77843

With an ever-growing importance placed on genetic research the need for advanced DNA analysis technologies has emerged. New techniques that allow genomic analysis to be performed in a faster and less expensive format are critically needed. This paper will investigate the use of novel convective flow technology as a possible solution to increase DNA copy yields from the Polymerase Chain Reactions. Specifically, the influences of target size and enzyme formulation are explored in order to optimize performance.
