A new proprietary catalyst has been developed for oxidative coupling of methane to produce ethane, ethylene and higher molecular weight hydrocarbons. With a feed ratio of methane to oxygen of 2 to 1, C2+ yields of 27 plus% have been obtained. The feed also contains diluent so the reaction mixture is outside the flammable range for feed mixtures containing oxygen. Data from a bench scale reactor system will be presented as well as results from a kinetic and reactor model.
