Submitting a Proposal to Present
Welcome to the new AIChE Online Meeting Planning System and abstract collection system, which will now serve AIChE national meetings. This system was selected by a task force appointed by the Executive Board of the National Program Committee (EBPC) on the basis of its simplicity and ease of usage. As with any new system, instructions are key, and we urge you to read the sequential instructions on each page before you begin entry.
One new feature you will immediately recognize is that each abstract may only be submitted to one session at a time. You can no longer submit the same abstract to multiple sessions simultaneously. This has long been a complaint from chairs that they are pre-empted during paper acceptance by other chairs before they have had a chance to review submittals in detail. Now, the new system requires the submitter to choose the most appropriate session. At the same time, chairs can still transfer abstracts to other sessions if they feel that is applicable. Submitters also now have the option to write directly to chairs in a "Comments to Organizers" field with questions or suggestions.
In addition, the EBPC has stipulated that the same speaker be designated no more than three times on submitted abstracts. Submittals in excess of the limit will not be considered for presentation in oral sessions.

To Submit Your Proposal:
First read through these instructions, then begin your submission by clicking on the first step "Select Topic" in the Abstract Control Panel to the left of these instructions.
- Step 1: Select Topic - Choose the most appropriate session for your submission from the list provided. Remember that with the new system you may only select one session to submit to. However there is a "Comments to Organizers" box in step 2 for you to enter comments, suggestions and questions.
- Step 2: Title - After submitting your Topic you will be brought to a confirmation page and from there you will be brought to Step 2, "Title", where you enter your title and the submitter's email address. You may also enter comments to the session chair and cochair(s) or a related webpage in this step.
- Step 3: Author - Next you will enter the personal information of any authors associated with your submission.
- Step 4: Abstract Text - Finally you will enter you abstract text. Please read the instructions on that page and follow them to enter your abstract text.
- Step 5: Confirmation - After entering your abstract text you will be brought to a final confirmation page to review everything you have entered.
Special Steps After the Proposal to Present Deadline
Please note that the steps that appear in the left hand control panel will change based off of certain dates.
- Once the Proposal to Present deadline has passed, Step 1, Select Topic, will no longer be available.
- Furthermore, once the Extended Upload process begins, for inclusion of files in the CD-Rom Proceedings, an additional step will appear between 'Abstract Text' and 'Confirmation'. This new step will be 'Extended Upload' and will allow authors to upload their files.
As you complete each step, the Abstract Control Panel will be updated, showing you what step you are on and displaying hyperlinks on all steps up to that point. (If those hyperlinks are not added automatically, it would most likely be because of a JavaScript problem with your machine. If you need help fixing that, contact technical support.)
It is very important to note that you should NOT use you browser's back button at anytime during submission. If you need to go back and make edits you should use the step links in the Abstract Control Panel to the left.
