Topical I: Pharmaceutical Engineering for the 21^st Century (TI)

#551 - Particle Engineering in the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient and Drug Product Manufacturing (TI014)
Physical properties of pharmaceutical particles are greatly affected by particle size distribution and morphology. In many occasions the particles need to be engineered to meet certain formulation and process requirements. This session highlights advances in particle engineering to address process and formulation issues in the pharmaceutical industry. Particle engineering techniques in both API synthesis and drug product formulation are welcome. Sample cases include production of small crystals to improve bioavailability or compactability, particle size enlargement or morphology modification to improve powder flowability and bulk density, and granulation to improve drug product formulation processes, etc.
