Simple, accurate, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric methods for the determination of Ambroxol in pure and dosage forms were proposed. The drug forms (1) A stable green colour with ferric chloride and potassium ferricyanide, exhibiting maximum absorbance at 730 nm. (2) A light blue colour with F.C. reagent and sodium carbonate, exhibiting a maximum absorbance at 780 nm against reagent blanks. MATLAB software was applied for data treatment as a multivariate calibration tool in the spectrophotometric procedure. The artificial neural network (ANN) trained by the back-propagation learning was used for modeling. The ANN used can be used to proceed the data with an average relative error of less than 1.50 %. Furthermore, the estimation of Ambroxol Hydrochloride by ANN was compared with gas chromatographic results of the same sample. The percent difference between predicted and gas chromatographic results were found to be less than 2.00 % for estimation of Ambroxol Hydrochloride
