Nanoseparations – State of the Art and Future Needs
Karsten Keller, Advanced Process Technology, DuPont Engineering Research and Technology, Experimental Station, Wilmington, DE 19880 and Benjamin C. Fuchs, DuPont Engineering R&D, Experimental Station, Wilmington, DE 19880-0304.
This paper will give an industrial overview in separation processes of nanoparticles. The importance of particle-particle interactions in nano-scale processes as well as the separation mechanisms for nanoparticles will be discussed. Typical separation approaches and apparatuses will be presented for solid/gas and solid/liquid separations. It will be discussed why nano/micro fibers have suburb properties for filtration. In addition, the future industrial needs in this area will be discribed.
