| Chaitan Khosla, Chemical Engineering, Stanford University, 381 North-South Mall, Stanford, CA 94305 Polyketide biosynthesis has been an important target of metabolic engineering for the past two decades, on account of the medicinal value of these complex natural products. Recent developments have opened the door for both structure-based and evolutionary approaches for engineering polyketide biosynthesis. Examples of progress with both approaches will be presented.
